Christians and Finances

Many Christians will say “God is my way maker; he will provide all my needs,” but yet they struggle with multiple economic issues. How could this event be happening in their lives when they have such strong faith in God? Why do some Christians and finances does not add up?

Fraudulent information

A few years ago a few churches in Georgia made headlines due to fraudulent information being passed down to their congregation; causing members to lose thousands of dollars, and some lost their homes. Of course, this was due to members trusting their pastor and the person making these ridiculous propositions in hopes of becoming rich.

This is not the main reason Christians struggle financially but one of the many reasons on the list. The main reason is the lack of financial understanding.

The fundamentals of budgeting

Some people have never learned the fundamentals of budgeting or investing their money. First they would have to admit they are lacking in this area. The next step would be to pray and ask God to point you towards the right direction to gain the knowledge you need to stay on track financially.

Warnings in the bible

There are many warnings in the bible that stick out to let you know debt and greed is not favored in God’s eyes, greed can also lead to debt. Staying free from debt can be quite challenging for some. The temptation is powerful in today’s society. Technology is steadily growing the majority of consumers want an iPad or iPhone, some people feel they must keep up with the latest fashion (some church folks are guilty of this).

Everybody wants a beautiful home along with living in an upscale neighborhood, however, can they afford it? Another possible contributing factor is education. Almost every parent want the best for their children if you cannot afford to send your child to a private school then don’t! Sometimes we can be our own enemy when it comes to financing.

What the bible say about debt

Some folks will say debt is not good, some banks will say debt is good but what does the bible say? Educate yourselves dealing with finances. There are all types of courses online for free or find out if your community is offering financial classes to those who cannot afford to pay for them.

Stop spending your hard earn money to hear those get rich schemes, and falling into the trap of our pulpit pimps that prey on Christians.

Yes, God will provide a way for you to live but God also stated,  “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children” Hosea 4:6 (KJV).
